Hello LP Friends! I wanted to check in and see what you all had to say about going to this part of the world for a honeymoon. We are both adventurous people who love to travel off the beaten track. I really don't know much about the region so any help in even picking a region would be amazing. Our last big trip was to Nicaragua and we went to some really untouch places which were magical. Thank you so much.
Solomon Islands is big enough to provide a good mix of beach/resort and adventure. See also Exploring Solomons for more adventurous options. | 1
I'd recommend the Cook Islands, especially Aitutaki and Mauke. | 2
What was your favorite thing about those islands? | 3
The people, the culture (or variety of cultures) and the environment. It's beautiful. And the beautiful warm clear turquoise waters for swimming (and diving and snorkelling). | 4
I vote for Solomon Islands as well | 5
"What was your favorite thing about those islands?" (Cook Islands... Aitutaki & Mauke) James Michner felt that Aitutaki's lagoon was among the most beautiful places in the world... so do I The people of the Cook Islands are among the most friendly I've ever encountered anywhere. The locals in Aitutaki not only friendly but have a real zeal for partying and having a good time. The people of Mauke are very friendly, even by Cook Island standards. It's rare that you pass someone without a wave and a smile, even from the teenagers. Aitutaki offers great entertainment and a wide choice of lodging and places to eat. The lagoon is a focal point during the daylight hours. Mauke offers lots of intimate beautiful beaches and alcoves, pretty gardens and of course friendly, unassuming people. | 6
