honeymoon in Pacific Islands thinking (French Polynesia)
Hi,
we are getting married on 11th Oct 2010 in scotland, then we plan head away on 20th for a few days, we were thinking of the Pacific Islands with clam blue waters and sun n sand,
I have had a look at a few websites and it all seems a minimum of £350 per night rooms or bunglows on water Breakfast Dinner = Flights
can anyone suggest any cheaper options or is it really worth spending that much amount for a one off honeyoon
We have been thinking of a deposit for a house, but I think this is once in a life time.....
Thank you

If you are looking only at packaged honeymoon trips you will find they are mainly the expensive over-the-water bungalows with all the extras. If you are willing to do your own planning and booking you can have a great honeymoon for less. If you opt to do just 2 or 3 nights in one of the fancy places and then move on to a more reasonable place you will still enjoy all the islands have to offer for less. Check out places like Club Bali Hai on Moorea or the Novetel's Bora Bora Hotel on Bora Bora. We stayed at the B B Hotel and got a great rate by booking on Novotel's website months in advance. Some of the smaller places will be even more affordable. The money you save on accommodations can be put towards tours and eating out. You can also save if you decide to do your own breakfasts of great baguettes and fruit. Check out the forums at www.tahiti-explorer.com for other ways to save on your trip and the posters at tripadvisor.com will also give you lots of tips. FP is a beautiful place and definitely worthy of your time and money and it can be done on a moderate budget. If you think this might work for you, do a little research and then come back with your questions. Good luck with your plans.

Depends on how long you have. for a week or so, I'd do three or four days on Moorea, then back to Tahiti. For ten days to two weeks, add in Bora Bora.

I agree, you can find cheaper places if you do the research here, and use Tripadvisor.com for other reviews.

But from the UK you might get a decent package deal. They sometimes get a great deal on the airfare for these packages, which helps offset the astronomical prices of hotels, etc. that they use.

So, check it out both ways: package tour, versus doing your own air and accommodations.

Hi,

Congrats on the wedding.

I would do both. House and honeymoon. You can buy cheap flights to Tahiti if you book early. I wouldn't recommend staying in an expensive place. Go to Takapoto - just 2 guest houes right on the beach. Only drawback, maybe 2 people speak english, the rest speaks french. But you can communicate with a smile.

We stayed there for 3 weeks and it was amazing!

Also, when booking few nights in the posh places use wotif.com - we did. I actually went to a hotel and they quoted me 180 euro per night. Asked if i could use the internet and booked the same room for half the price.
