Honeymoon - where to go?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi folks,

my fiancée and I will be marrying in the beginning of July and are planning our honeymoon for mid July till mid August. We are looking for nature, a good tropical (isolated?) beach with snorkelling facilities and a nice hotel/guesthouse where you can relax, read and enjoy life. The weather should be fine (no torrential rains caused by monsoons, no hurricanes,...).
The handicap is that we've already been to some typical honeymoon/fantastic beach destinations, i.e. Maldives, Seychelles, Thailand, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Australia's east coast,...
An alternative would be Mauritius, but July/August is not the best time to visit - as I heard the temperature will be about 24°C. Another destination could be the Caribbean, but it will be hurricane season then. South Seas would be great but is too expensive from Europe.

So i hope you can help me out of my dilemma and suggest your favourite honeymoon destination.

I really appreciate your answers!

We honeymooned in Bermuda in August and had wonderful weather. While it is in the hurricane belt it rarely gets hit with the storms that hit lower down the island chain. You might want to check out the Bermuda climate chart with a look at the history of hurricanes. It is an amazing place to honeymoon, lovely beaches, snorkeling, some hiking trails, underground caves and great dining. We went back for our 30th anniversary in '96 and found it to be every bit as nice as the first time. Good luck with your search.
