Honeymooning in the South PacificCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Looking for a wonderful spot to honeymoon in. We have travelled fairly extensively but never to the South Pacific. Will be flying from Los Angeles so hopefully it is a place that is somewhat reasonable to reach from there. If you could honeymoon anywhere in the South Pacific, where would it be?
Answered a similar question here - in fact 2 of us recommended the very same place. | 1
I would go to Tavanipupu off the island of Guadalcanal in Solomon Islands. It offers privacy and luxury, the opportunity to visit real villages, and is a short hop by light plane, a bit longer by boat, from Honiara airport, which is 3 hours from Brisbane, Australia. | 2
I just love the little island of Uoleva in the Kingdom of Tonga. It has the most beautiful white sandy beach all around the island with good snorkeling right at the doorstep. For accommodation I would recommend Taiana's Resort. It has simple beach huts with mosquito nets that are kept very clean, plenty of hammocks, a great laid-back atmosphere and the lovely Tongan owners prepare tasty meals if you want. There are hardly any tourists in Ha'apai (that's the name of the island group Uoleva belongs to), it's a real gem. Hope you find the right place for you and congratulations! | 3
In the Cooks, check out Sokala Villas at Muri Beach. | 4
