Hotel near airport in Papeete

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

We will fly into Papeete and will need a hotel room for 3 adults near the FAA or in downtown Papeete for one night. Could anyone recommend a moderately priced one for us? Thanks.

The Mandarin Noa Noa is very good for such a thing. Good breakfast, comfortable beds. You can walk to the
ferry or the markets.

First I need to say that I don't feel good about posting here since the downgrade of the Thorntree and their censorship of posts critical of it. (Many of my posts regarding the new TT have been "archived" while older posts not relating to the TT remain.)

I've listed some moderately priced places (and my review of the Mandarin, scroll down) on my blog.

Mandarin was just OK. First night I had a room with a bed that resembled a swayback horse. I moved to another room which had a decent bed. So, it may be hit and miss. But nice cafe downstairs, and you are near most everything.

For dinner, try the roulettes near the water. Or, Cite D'Or, a good Chinese restaurant a couple of blocks away, cheap but big portions, very good food.
