| aisandjoe05:04 UTC16 Jul 2007 | Hi there,
Joe (my boyfriend) and I are travelling to Rarotonga on the 14th Aug and are staying until 29th Sept. As this is a pretty extended stay we thought we might see if there are any couples/people who´d be interested in getting a place to rent for a month with us, which would probably work out cheaper than a beachfront room at Vara´s! We´ve had a look at rental properties and there seem to be some decent ones about. We´re a very laid back pair who love a bit of craic and good company, both in our late 20´s, from Dublin.
Also, if anyone has rented previously on Rarotonga we´d be delighted to know of any tips. We´ll probably rent on our own if no one wants to join us, so any advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Ais and Joe x

| decdublin16:03 UTC16 Jul 2007 | Hi Joe and Ais,
I'm sure there's some South Pacific experts here googling 'craic' to see what it is you're looking for on your holiday!
Are you sure you can stay on Raro that long? We went two years ago and got a 30 day visa... Has that changed? Can you stay longer now?
We booked the first three nights in advance at Paradise Inn... Once we got there we hired a car and went exploring, looking for a house to rent for the rest of the month...
We wanted to stay around Muri Beach and asked around the area, in the shops etc, for anyone who knew of rentals available... the local butcher put us in touch with these guys.... Manea Beach
We didn't stay in the beachfront villas... we did see them and they were lovely, although they got destroyed by the three cyclones that hit that month! You're not going in cyclone season so don't worry! We stayed in one on the large houses on the hill, the triangular wooden houses.... I can't remember what we paid, sorry, but it was definitely lower that what we later saw on their website. We were standing there with cash in our hand ready to rent an otherwise empty house and were able to strike a deal. This was February time.
We enjoyed the location of Muri Beach because the lagoon is absolutely stunning.... and within walking distance you have... Doug's Internet Cafe, also for coffee and shakes... That's Pasta for Italian meals eat in or take away... (portions were large and we made them stretch over two nights! two dinners for the price of one! the advantage of having your own fridge, kitchen etc)... local shop or groceries etc... and the Pacific Resort hotel has a nice bar for cocktails beers etc...
You're going to absolutely love it!

| mach11:57 UTC31 Jul 2007 | Hi there, my husband and I are travelling to the Cook Islands arriving there at 1am on 13th August. We intend to stay there for a week leaving 21 August for Atiu and then flying back into Raro for one night on 10th September to fly out early hours on the 11th September. I dont know if you would be interested but we would consider sharing a rental house with you for these nights. Have you managed to find a place yet?
I have contacted a few private houses via email and I am waiting to hear back from them regarding their weekly rates.
I look foward to hearing from you.
Kind regards, Mary
