How to go from Aus to Port Moresby

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

I' still looking for a possibility to travel from Aus to Port Moresby (or other Immigration post on PNG) without using an Airplane. The Info I found sofar is already a year old.
Maybe somebody has updated info, or is also going there,
It's about to travel from Cairns or Seisia or any other route across the Torres straight by boat or ferry to PNG.
Maybe a reader is going there with his boat.. I already have a visa and have nautical experiance.
Hopefully somebody can help out,
And last but not least as a backup., Does somebody knows a cheaper option than the 800A$ I get quoted for a flight from N-Queensland to PNG ??
I am a Dutch Guy and have to enter PNG before June 15, and am ready to leave Oz around April 20 but am very flexible.
Thanks in Advance, John

Airlines PNG has pretty low fares, as low as 259 AUD with tax from Cairns to POM, just a bit more from Brisbane.
I doubt you'll find anything cheaper.
Note that you probably need a RT ticket to enter PNG, even if you'd prefer to leave it overland, eg to Indonesia.

There is no ferry, so the only options by sea would be by private yacht or the odd cruise.
