I have a route but need help!

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hey,
So after doing some research i've decided on a route which is Sydney - Cook Islands - Samoa - Vanuatu - Fiji. Its nothing too complicated but i'm having trouble finding flights that will allow me to take this route. I've found a flight with Virgin Blue from Sydney - Cook which is $449, but from there i'm having trouble finding a flight to Samoa. Is it going to be a case of changing my route so i fly to Fiji after Cook, then maybe Samoa and Vanuatu? I'm just having trouble with finding flights between certain places. Any help would be much appreciated, some links to airlines that fly these route would be good.

Thanks,
Matt

Well, time for a practicality check!

Though Air Pacific promised to start Cooks-Fiji flights this year, until those materialize, the only (pricey) way to go from the Cooks to Samoa or Fiji is via New Zealand.

You could do things more easily and cheaply if you settled on Tonga instead of the Cooks, as that is well-linked to Fiji, which in turn is linked to both Samoa and Vanuatu, too.
In fact you could visit all those 3 island nations from Fiji at a very reasonable fare within 30 days using Air Pacific's Bula Pass.

Otherwise, see post #32 in the FAQ thread detailing flight connections to and within the Pacific islands.

Thanks for that reply. I had to cut Tonga out because of time restraints but if it is more practical to go there and a lot cheaper then I think I'll have to give the cook islands a miss.....this time. I'll be sure to check out the link you gave my as well.

Thanks again,
Matt
