I want to move to Fiji

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi Everyone,

I have recently had a lot of changes in my life and have been given the opportunity to relocate anywhere I want in the world and I want Fiji! But I have heard so many different things about locations. I am a single female, late 20s, with my dog ;-). I am a teacher but am open to new job opportunities. I want a life that is simple, away from a big city, preferably close to a beach, that is cost friendly. What do you suggest? Which island? City? Approximate cost of living? I really don't need lavish.

Thanks so much for you help

What I would suggest, first of all, that you visit Fiji before choosing to move there.
A personal visit should answer most of your Qs about costs, locations and (important!) work possibilities better than any reply from someone else on a travel forum.
It may or may not turn out to be the paradise it is often imagined to be.

Well a visit before the move is, of course, the plan. But it would be nice to touch down with an inside view.

if you want to remain a school teacher there are international schools in Nadi and Suva, so where you get a job will partially decide where you live. otherwise you will need a qualification for which there is a shortage to be able to come here to work, or that is my belief
