Thinking of having my hols in New Caledonia later this year. I am not as mobile as i used to be, so i will have to restrict my time to the land, as i do not swim or dive any more, alltough i would like to do a day cruise while i'm there. What are the ultimate, must do things, i need to do while i am there? I do enjoy a good walk, of say 3 or 4 hours, and i am into museums and the like, and expect to be there 10 days or so, what are the 'Must Do's' there............In antisapation,Ta!

10 days is a long time to spend in New Caledonia (I'm thinking Noumea) if you aren't prepared to get out and about.
When in Noumea I love to stroll along the Anse Vata at various times of the day, in the afternoon watch the men play petanque. Visit the markets, the Tjibaou Cultural Centre is a must, the new aquarium, the botanical gardens, ride le petit train.
A must do day cruise is the Amedee Island cruise.
With 10 days to spare, why not visit Ile des Pins for a few days or hire a car & travel further a field perhaps to Hienghene & Poum.
New Caledonia is my very favourite part of the pacific & I could spend 10 days doing nothing but people watching.

I second all the above, particularly the advice to visit Highengene and/or Isles of Pines.

The other must do's inNoumea include - the market (by the Port), and Botanical Gardens
