Interisland Air Travel

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

So I'm thinking about flying to the Pacific Rim sometime mid-year. Ideally, I'd like to see more than one island, is there any sort of cheap airline that flies between the islands down there or do I have to spend a small fortune to get from one to the other every time?

Cheers,
Van

Pacific Blue (Virgin) flies to several countries, but not from one to the other. Most flights originate in Brisbane, some in Sydney.
Incidentally, the islands are not the Pacific Rim. That is Australia, China, Japan, North and South America.
The islands are the centre.

If you go to www.airtimetable.com you will be able to check out route maps for the different airlines servicing Oceania. It should give you a rough guide for planning a route. You will find there is not a lot of one way travel where you don't have to return to a central point. Fiji is about the best in terms of heading off to other places. You could do Sydney - New Caledonia - Vanuatu - Fiji without backtracking.

or Vanuatu - Solomon Islands, - Papua New Guinea.
