Kids to Fiji

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi am having trouble deciding on which resort to choose in Fiji. I'm bringning my 3yr old and 18 month old children..Shangri la, Sheraton or the Outrigger?! Ta muchly!

In order of preference , Id say Shangri La, then Outrigger and then Sheraton.

The first 2 are on the Coral Coast. The Shangri La has the better beach. The Sheratons (there are 2 side by side) HAVE NO BEACH - just mud, though the pools and all else are marvellous

Hello - I am not sure when you are traveling or how long you are going for, but if you have children take them to Castaway Island. They have a wonderful Kids Club - I have seen children of all ages in tears as they leave Castaway because they have had such a great time. The resorts you mention, I have stayed at them all and I truly feel that they are more focused towards adult guests. Staying on the Island allows the children to explore, swim in the pool, participate in a treasure hunt and all while you are relaxing. There are also fabulous family style accommodations on Castaway Island. I have been to Fiji 3 times, and loved it each and every time - and been to Castaway each of these 3 visits. I know you will love it. Safe travels, Lisa@SeeANZ.com

For older children, Id agree with #3 but for tiny ones the bigger resorts are great, if no other reason than they cater for parents of babies so well. They have dedicated kids clubs, nannies for hire (A$3 per hour), separate meal times for kids if needed, and adults only restaurants. The Fijian is particularly good for that.
