legal drug restrictions?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi,

Has anyone ever heard of legal drug restrictions for Vanuatu, such as codeine? I carry Nurofen Plus with 12.8mg; I'd hate to have them confiscated :)

Thanks!!!

Not sure about Vanuatu, but I usually have boxes of generic Panadeine when I go to Solomon
Islands, for myself and my friends, as it is quite expensive there.
Never even been questioned. They are more concerned about X-rated videos.

I haven't seen anyone having to open their bags upon entering Vanuatu, and it's a very easygoing country in any case.

2

Haven't been to Vanuatu, but in most SP countries, if the label is clearly a regular pharmacy/chemist-purchase type thing, it should not be a problem. If you carry them in a little plastic baggy to save space (as I do with many meds), just carry the original little box they came in, flattened out to save space. Or if it's a prescription for those of you out there carrying those, just carry a copy of the prescription itself.

We have had cheese confiscated in Vanuatu so they do check bags sometimes.

4

I am guessing it was not "prescription cheese", just over-the-counter cheese? :)

5

Cheese is restricted practically anywhere, for fairly obvious reasons.

6

Fortunately it' fairly readily available in French-influenced parts of the Pacific locally! ;-)

7

Also available in most other SP areas due to lots of trade with NZ!

I just had a thought for a good remake of that old Peter Fonda/Dennis Hopper classic. They get busted bringing " a couple of keys" into Vanuatu---a couple of kilos--- of Brie!

The movie would obviously be entitled "Cheesy Rider" !! (OK, enough groaning :) )
