Looking for a Boat throught the pacific

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi! I was wondering if any of you travellers out there know of a boat company that will take you from the Australia to America, any city to any city: Austrlia to Argentina or Mexico or U.S. etc. I mean any; just looking to get off the continent but not looking for a luxury cruise. I don't want to fly. I'm just looking for a 1, 2 or 3 weeks day voyage to America on a passenger boat.

Nothing but luxury liners, I'm afraid. You are about 50 years too late.

Yep, too late for passenger liners. If you want to see what it was like on what was probably the last passenger ship to do regular runs across the Pacific, have a look at this link to the SS Australis. I was a passenger in 1974, from Sydney to Acapulco, the crossing taking between 2-3 weeks.

You can still take passenger rides on freighter ships, but it costs more than flying.

On the other hand about 2500 USD for a 20 days trip is not that much ($125 per day) when you consider that it covers transportation, accommodation and all meals ... Quite frankly I had expected it to be much more expensive.
