Looking for appartment for rent i Queensland, Australia

We're a couple from Norway who will be travelling with a baby at 6 months old to Queensland, Australia in 7th January 2009. The plan is to spend 2 1/2 months Down under, we haven't decided yet where to stay in Queensland, would love to rent an appartment by the coast, maybe Byron Bay or Noosa area. Any one know where we can look for a place to rent? Have been looking a while for a place to rent, but seems like it's hard to find as the high season starts in January.

We're also thanksful for any tips and suggestions regarding car/ baby seats/ pram rental in Australia.

Byron Bay is actually not in Queensland. It's prices increase about 10 times in January, as that is our summer holidays.

It is also likely to be wet around that time, as it was last year. I would suggest doing anything inland or further south in January, and travelling to Byron Bay and Queensland later.
