Markets

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hello

I will be travelling to Fiji in July with my daughter and was wondering where the best place to go for markets? Not so much for food but girly shopping and souvenirs. We are staying at the Shangri La.

Cheap souvenir stuff abounds in Nadi, which you'll pass through on the way to shangri-La. Maybe 40 minutes back to Nadi from SL. Or, head east to Suva. Lots more choice, and it is a more interesting city to visit as well. But it may take1.5-2 hrs or so. Maybe just book a day tour to Suva via the hotel, they'll show you the sights, and you'll maybe get a free hour or two to go shopping, etc.

But aside from some tapa cloths, handicrafts, pareus, etc., I don't think it's a really great shopping type of place.

Nadi is expensive for souvenirs unless you go to side winding streets and shop there. Lautoka is overly al in all cheaper.
