Tried to answer your PM and you don't take messages. Can give you info about FSM but you'll have to let me.

LOL.
I have this happening all the time, too!
Kind of annoying when one has just spent time/effort writing a longer reply that can't be delivered.

Hey Laz- Hi. And I come here rarely these days. I wrote a nice long informative note to have it bounced. What are people thinking???

2

Indeed, you've been away a while - wanted to say "Welcome back!", too! :-)

As for the PMs that are rejected, I wish at least they were saved for later.
But as far as I experienced, I can't recover them once sent.

3

Oh well- guess the private senders will miss out on all our terrifically valuable pearl of wisdom.

And it is nice to be back. I found I missed you all.

4

Good to see you again 5Waldos!

I've also had long PM's bounce, and lost them, so I rarely write them any longer.

Not sure if it will work, but you might copy the PM before you send it, and then send it to yourself as well soon thereafter. Can one send a PM to oneself??

5

don[t know- but if someone writes for information and then blocks your response- well, I'm happy to help but not willing to keep at it.

How are you Raro? It is nice to be back, and nice to still know people here. What have you been up to?

6

Ah- maybe next time I will send a test back before bothering to think about a response. If I can remember this little hint to myself.

Welcome back 5 Waldos - I recall your helping me out with Palau information last year. I am finally getting to visit this February and have reread some of your old posts to garner tidbits of info to help me out. Other than you and Papa Mike, few posters have been there. Did you ever get back for the visit you talked about? Would love any updated info you might have.

Did go and had a wonderful and astonishing time. Everyone still remembeedr us and we never were someplace where we didn't know anyone. In fact I got a card from some Palauan friends in todays mail. I'm so glad you are going to make it. Downtown had changed some- it is grown up but not nicely I'm afraid. It is crowded and patchwork. The compact road was nearly finished but parts of it were falling down already- roads in that climate are difficult to maintain. What are your plans? And how long will you be there for? Oh I am jealous!

We fly into Palau on February 20th and will be there until March 4th. We are mainly going for the snorkeling (We are not divers) and hope to have the opportunity to snorkel at many places - from shore and by boat. We also like to hike and hope to do some walks. We will rent a car and hopefully drive around Babeldaob to check out the scenery and waterfalls. I hope to get to one of the other islands - really would like to get to Kayangel (silvanocat recently posted about her kayaking trip there) but don't think we have the time. We will visit the museum, aquarium and other tourist places and hope to get a chance to interact with some of the locals. We will stay 3 days at Carolines Resort(to take advantage of their PPR tie-in) and then head to Lehn's with a possible couple of days at Palau Beach Bungalows in Melekeok. We have been wanting to go to Palau since 2000 and are so thrilled we are finally going to make it. If you have any tips or hints for us, we'd be only to glad to hear them.

Hi 5waldos--been in the SF area for a while, will be remodeling an old house I bought.
Took a trip back East to visit relatives. Traveling domestically by air is as much hassle, or more, than heading overseas!!!

And when you get off the plane you are still here, more or less. SF sounds busy- I sense a great need for a relaxing trip to some island coming on!

Newfie- are the bugalows on the beach? You might want to look into North Beach which is a bit further up on Balbedoab than Melekeok but are beautiful. I somehow remember someone staying in Melekeok and feeling right out of the way of anything, although I don't remember if it was the Tellei bungalows or not. The Carolines should be great since the resort is great. The only major hotel which hires primarily Palauans. You can fly to both Anguar and to Peliliu, or take the ferry to Peliliu and stay. The only place I know in Anguar was in desperate need of a major rehaul when I was there- which he was supposed to do but I don't know if it got done. If you fly you usually go to Anguar first, then back to Peliliu. The trip itself in the small plane is worth a lot-in other places you'd pay just to take the tour. It flies over the rock islands and is a beautiful trip. And the runways and "terminals" are something else to see-both original Japanese era grass. I used to especially love the Anguar International Airport signs- sadly now gone. And if you go to Peliliu, do take the historic tour. Pricey at about $80 but well worth it- the huge amount of WWII ruins and leftovers is astonishing. And if you are looking to take a private snorkeling trip, pm me and I can give you the name and number of a friend of ours who takes people out. He is great and knows all the best places to go. You are going to have a wonderful time!
