Middle Sepik Festival - July 1-3, 2008

My fiancee and I just returned from a great trip to PNG... can't recommend it enough. I'll post some sort of trip report soon, but first I wanted to let everyone know about this...

40th Anniversary Celebration

Wosera Gawi District (Middle Sepik)

A bunch of the clans in this region are getting together for a 3 day celebration in Palimbe (which has a great ceremonial grounds with two Spirit Houses and the remains of a much older one) - lots of dancing, music, demonstrations, etc... It sounds like it will be an amazing time.

I'm guessing that all of the local tour operators and guides know about the festival and will be happy to arrange transport and lodging.
