| deltazet10:19 UTC08 Nov 2014 | Hello fellow travelers,
I'm in the middle of planning my next adventure in PNG over the Christmas break, and seems like information is very limited about this country.
I'm looking to travelling from Mt Hagen to Madang by land in public transport, and I wonder, is it practical/possible/safe/could be made in reasonable time.
Plan is to fly to Mt Hagen, climb Mt. Wilhelm, stop in Goroka for Asaro mud man and head to Madang - all in 9 days.
Please kindly help me with the following questions:
1. Is Mt Hagen and surroundings worth a visit? Is it better to fly to Goroka instead? I picked Mt Hagen because there are more flights between bigger cities, also there is a direct flight between Wewak and Mt Hagen.
2. What is the best source to check the up to date security situation? The best advise seems to be the local newspaper, but I wonder, would it usually cover all provinces.
3. Based on two years old info I could dig, seems like road between Mt Hagen and Kundiawa is in a bad condition, also there are potential issues from "roadworkers", demanding money to police blockades, demanding money or lift for they relatives. It the current situation the same? Would it better to do this bit in a private car?
4. Is it possible to go from Goroka to Madang in one day? Seems like it should be possible, but if not, what is the good place to stay in between?
5. Is my plan realistically doable in 9 days, with "expect the unexpected" way in PNG?
Any advise is much appreciated.
Also I want to thank all travelers, posting their travel review in ThornTree. With so little available information it is a tremendous help for trip planning.

It is possible to travel from from Goroka to Madang in 1 day but when u arrive you will be so exhausted..

Could you please kindly pass me the list you mentioned.
