Multi-City travel internationally...tickets

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hello folks- My question is a general one. I want to know if there is an airline or company that books multiple cities for a designated stay in each...specifically is there a way to hit a major city in Australia...then New Zealand...then maybe some south pacific islands all on one world travel ticket? Thanks Cindi

Air New Zealand can get you from Australia to New Zealand and then to either:

Tonga and Samoa or
Fiji and the Cooks (the Cooks connection will end sometime in October?, double check the date) or
French Polynesia

Just to clarify---one can still get from AKL to the Cooks after October, it is just the combination of Fiji/Cooks that won't be available from AKL on Air NZ.

You might like to check out www.airtimetable.com. Click on Airline Route maps from the left side menu and the click on Oceania. It will give a list of all the airlines flying that area - a great resource for working out routings! This site has lots of other useful information for planning trips.

It's really sad. The days of doing the AKL-NAN-RAR-PPT-LAX on a RTW ticket are over. I did this in 1999, it was great and a good option for people doing the once in a lifetime trip. The other option is SYD or AKL-PPT-IPC (Easter Island)-SCL if you are headed to South America.

Now it seems you can only visit one Pacific Island in transit between Australia/NZ and the USA.

Tiki---true if you want to visit the Cooks (well, after Oct). But it seems one can still do Tonga and Samoa together in one direction or the other to/from LAX. And if you are doing a RT from LAZ or Aust/NZ, you can hit those two one way, and the Cooks or Fiji in the other direction.

But yes, the options for east to west are pretty limited.

But remember that there are outer islands to visit at each destination, some of which are quite different from the main island.
