Need advise on a 3-4 months South Pacific Islands Trip

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi there,

During our RTW Trip we are planning to spend 3-4 months in the South Pacific. We have been already to Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Cooks and Tahiti. So now we were thinking of going to Solomons, Vanuatu, Fiji (still so much to explore..), maybe New Caledonia, Niue and Papua New Guinea (but maybe we will go there later on our rtw trip).
We def will visit the Easter Islands beforehand (just for a week) and a bit of Tahiti (because of budget restrictions).

We are travelling on a budget (approx 50-70 USD/per person/per day without flights) and we love snorkelling, diving and hiking. We are quite experienced travellers and look forward to visit some countries, with maybe a less developed travel infrastructure, but of course we still need to be able to move a bit around.

So which islands would you recommend?

Cheers
Tinka

Sounds like Solomon Islands could meet your needs. Infrastructure is improving all the time (I was impressed since my last visit 2 1/2 years ago), but it remains a developing country with developing infrastructure, You can choose between low-key resorts in the Western Province and the more traditional islands elsewhere, with a couple of world heritage sites for good measure.
