need Bora Bora Honeymoon advice/package!

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hey everyone,

My fiance and I are getting married next June, and we really want to go to Bora Bora! We've heard great things, but there is so much information to filter through on the internet so I'm seeking this great community's advice! We're looking to stay 8-10 days, including an OWB for at least 2 nights. We are budgeting for $4600 total while we're there. So food, activities, lodging, etc...

Where do we start? Can anyone point us in the right direction. Or maybe post a link to a great all inclusive honeymoon package with food :) within our budget that includes the OWB?

Thanks!

My best advice would be to check out www.tahiti-explorer.com - they are a travel agency site that caters to Tahiti travel (they may have a package that gives you what you want)- they have a great forum where you can get lots of information with regards to honeymoons. Also the forum at tripadvisor is worth a look - again a lot of honeymoon information is available. We went to the library and borrowed books for our research - the one by Jan Prince will have accommodation details with prices that will help you decide for your particular budget. We enjoyed our stay at the Novatel Bora Bora Beach Resort - a nice accommodation at reasonable prices(we were there for our 40th and splurged on this) compared to the OWB. Whatever you decide you can't go wrong as Bora Bora is worth all the hype it gets. My best wishes for your wedding.

Thanks so much for the great advice. I will start looking at those websites for some great deals! In the mean time... does anyone have any other thoughts.. how much should I budget for food? travel? activities?

dablack, I spent my honeymoon at bora bora last october. I can help with your budget for the OWB, and for the ray&shark feeding activity... I just need to come back home and see the price list that we received from the hotel, Bora Bora Pearl Beach. By the way, I heard it is the best cost/benefit among the big hotels from Bora Bora. You can spend your OWB nights there... The hotel is amazing, you can take a look at my pictures, at picasaweb, if you want... https://picasaweb.google.com/112890063738086570241/LuaDeMelEmBoraBora (look for the following words if the link does not work: lua de mel bora bora pearl)... Later I'll write the prices...

That sounds wonderful. Your pictures look great! If you could update me when you get home I would really appreciate that. Congratulations on your marriage and thanks for your willingness to help me out. Its been hard to find a place within our budget that includes an OWB.

dablack, it seems that the owb at pearl cost from 800-1000 USD per bungalow premium per night... I don“t know the exact price because we bought a package, but I presume this price... And it includes a meal plan (breakfast + dinner)... The shark&ray activity costs 19800 XPF for 2 persons (more or less 225 USD for 2 persons)... All right? Take a look at the prices of Hotel Maitai Bora Bora, they may be a good option too... Good luck! If you need more activity prices, just ask...

Dablack06, I was there 18 months ago for four nights in an OWB. I stayed at the Sofitel Bora Bora Private Motu. I absolutely loved it but I don't know how you manage two people for eight to ten days on $4600. I assume you are counting the transportation costs separately? When all is said and done, you'll spend that much getting there and returning if you are traveling from the U. S.

You may want to start checking the websites of the individual Bora Bora resorts to see what packages they may offer.
If you are a complete newbie to this, you may want to consult a living breathing travel agent to see what they offer. I hope you or your intended speak French if you intend to do this trip completely on your own. I would advise against "winging" anythig on your honeymoon.

Good luck and congratulations.

Your budget is not too exciting.

The best hotel on Bora Bora ist the French Lagoon Resort. It belongs to the marketing chain The leading hotels of the world.

The French Lagoon Resort has the best location and the best look & feel.

The vista to Otemanu is spectacular and awesome.

It is way out of your budget, but I want to mention it that you can see what is possible.

Bora Bora is the best island in the Pacific. To go to Bora Bora is a very good decision.
Bora Bora is very rewarding.

Happy honeymooning.
