Need some advice for a major trip from Sweden to Pacific Islands/East Asia

Hello, me and my boyfriend are planning a major trip to the Pacific Islands, and now I'm just doing some mini researches. We do plan however to also travel to Seoul and Tokyo while we're at it, and I guess my question is... should we go to the major cities first and then go island hopping in the pacific, or the other way around. Or maybe this is impossible to do if you're not Beyonce and have all the money in the world? Is it unnecessary to travel around with a bunch of things you bought (in Tokyo and Seoul, and yesssss my plan is to shop there) for like 3 months when we go to the islands? Tell me, what would you do?

Ps. We're planning to go in maybe March 2019, and it would be SO incredible to be in the bigger cities during spring with the cherry blossom u know hehe, but again, I have 0 experience with traveling to/in East Asia and/or The Pacific. So please help!
