Nervous female traveller hitting Fiji

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hey - Wondering if anyone can offer some advice. I am heading to fiji for 12 nights from the 21st September. I haven't booked anything, have no idea where to stay and basically I am out of money as Australia sucked me dry. I have been reading threads where people have suggested the Lost islands, Caqalai or doing a homestay but looking at some of the websites they seem to have high transfer costs with many suggesting flying.
I was thinking about octopus, however, have read somewhere else that its' full of couples which could make me pretty lovesick for my other half after 12 nights. I would really appreciate some decent advice, I simply want to sunbathe, soak up the atmosphere, meet some nice people and potentially snorkel or spend some time on a boat.
Any ideas I would love to hear them.

cheers
