| raro06:58 UTC02 Feb 2007 | As most of you know, Air NZ will no longer be flying between the Cooks and Tahiti as of April 1. So, no flights between the two places, it seemed.
It was announced today (Feb 2) that Air Rarotonga, the Cook's domestic carrier, and Air Tahiti, Fr. Polynesia's domestic carrier, will now do a twice-weekly codeshare service between Rarotonga and Papeete, starting April 3.
It's NZ$599 round-trip from here, which is about US$400.
Not sure of the Air Tahiti links, but you can book via Air Rarotonga's website www.airraro.com
It's on an Air Tahiti ATR 72, seats 66, takes 2.5 hours (the jets take about 1:45)
It really is aimed mostly at Tahitians and Cook Islanders, who have a lot of relatives and cultural ties between them.
I do not think it can be combined with any international air ticket for a discount, at least not on Air New Zealand from the Cooks. Maybe Air Tahiti Nui might do something in this regard in the future.
So, it's available, but it's not just a stopover on a longer route like before , it's a separate RT ticket.

| raro11:47 UTC02 Feb 2007 | Yes, interesting. On the website it totals NZ$698 for the cheapest two one-way tickets,, in today's newspaper story it is listed as NZ$599!
Maybe e-mail Air Raro , they said it was some new type of on-line booking website, and maybe this new website has not included a round-trip fare.
