Over-the-water Fale?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi there,

Does anyone know about accommodation on Upolu island that offers over-the-water Fales? I have only seen beachfront fales, but as a treat my partner and I would like to stay a night or two in a Fale that's actually over the water - if you know what I mean? :)

I do realise that they will be more expensive than your normal budget ones, but we're happy to pay a bit more (although not horrendous amounts of money) for this experience. We don't need a private bathroom or anything.. just an over the water Fale will do :)

Any recommendations?

The point of over the water fales is a more luxurious experience.

You will be paying ALOT more than you had hoped. No budget OTW fales in Samoa that I know of.

Coconuts has 2 over the water fales. Not cheap. And they don't look particularly private. Don't think there are any others, but could be wrong. See website.

Look here , scroll down to the heading "Lismore Island" and see if that is what you are looking for.
But it is not a Samoan fale, it is a real village leaf house in Solomon Islands. However, it is available for use by visitors, for a very reasonable amount, including meals.

The only over water fales on Upolu are at the Coconutsbeachclub. They are quite nice but the official rate is USD400 per night, plus 15% tax. And they have a minimum stay of 3 nights.
There are such fales on Savaii as well, at a normal beach fale resort. That is Lusia's Lagoon Chalets, Salelologa - about USD100 per night.

Wow, that's what we're after! We are going to Samoa, though! :)

Thanks! A shame they are THAT expensive! As we only have one week, we will probably stay on Upolu. Thanks anyway!

I thought if someone can recommend anything, than this would be the place to ask!
