| pacisle07:11 UTC22 Dec 2002 | Hi,
I'm planning on getting married somewhere in the Pacific Islands early next year. I'm having trouble trying to decide where to go. My first thought was Fiji but all the resorts I have seen in the brochures that I like the look of are too expensive (looking at maximum of AUD$200, US$100 per night - less if possible). I have also looked at brochures for Vanuatu and Noumea but the beaches do not seem to be as pretty. Am I right? The Cook Islands now seems to be the best alternative. Has anyone got any ideas on places to get married in any of these areas? I am picturing a resort that is small (ie not heaps of people) and romantic (for couples not families). For the wedding itself I am picturing a white sand beach with palm trees and the sun setting over crystal clear water. As this will be a once in a lifetime event I want to make sure it's as beautiful and romantic as possible.
Also, if anyone has had experiences with getting married in any of these areas please let me know of any problems or issues that you might have had that I should be wary of.
Thanks for your help.

I can also imagine it would be quite expensive, thanks to the bureaucracy. It is however, a heartbreakingly beautiful place. Maybe you can visit on your anniversary?!

| mari09:47 UTC06 Jan 2003 | We got married on Rarotongo a few years ago. Stayed at a cheap place and organised it all ourselves. It was very easy. Much cheaper to do it it that way unless you really want a "package wedding". The beach wasn't so good (east coast, not as far down as Muri) But everything else was perfect. If you want any more info you can E Mail me.

| lkplow14:52 UTC12 Dec 2005 | Hi:
I'm in the same situation as you - I went to the Air New Zealand office yesterday and the travel agent told me not to get married at Raratonga Beach Resort - it's one of the few hotels in Rarotonga that allows children to stay.
I thought about the Pacific Resort - any views on that? My fiance and I would like to plant a coconut tree at the ceremony!
