Papeete

I am due to arrive at Papeete Faaa Airport next week at a very late hour and wonder if anyone could answer the following questions.
1) I have read reports that there are no longer any foreign exchange facilities at the airport -- is this still the case?
2) What would be the approximate taxi fare from the airport to the Sofitel Maeva hotel (apparently quite near)?

I'm sorry I can't help with your questions but I can suggest you post them on the forum at www.tahiti-explorer.com - the posters there should have that kind of information.

I did not see any money exchange open at the airport when I arrived there about 10 pm a few months ago. I heard that the taxis were like $30 to go the few miles into town so I stayed at the airport for the night and got a ride in the next day. The banks in town may open fairly early in the mornings but they would not exchange money until after 9am when they knew the exchange rate for the day.
