Planning our Honeymoon/Bora Bora or Fiji?! (advice/Ideas)Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hi Everyone, So My Wife and I are planning our Honeymoon (late Honeymoon!), and are now considering either Fiji OR Bora Bora... Now the thing is that neither of us really know much about the difference between the two places (Fiji/Bora-Bora)--could anyone please help us by letting us know what the major differences are between the two (or I guess more like, which is the best place to Honeymoon In). Would appreciate any advice/tips that any of you can give us. We have been doing some reasearch on Google for Honeymoon Planning Websites, as well looking into which sites offer the best deals on honeymoon packages. One of the sites with the best deals so far is from a honeymoon travel agency "Unforgettable Honeymoons" for Bora Bora as well as Fiji (pretty much how we stumbled upon some info on differences). This one is for the Fiji Paackage from unforgettable honeymoons website http://www.unforgettablehoneymoons.com/Tahiti-Honeymoon-Packages_5.html -- guessing that once we consult with them we'll be able to get much more info, but still want to get as much advice as we can (aside from the travel agency) from people who have honeymooned in either place; also, if anyone can recommend some other websites just for information/networking, would be awesome (other than Trip Advisor). Thanks, -Chris & Danielle Edited by: chrismusic
A good site for planning Tahiti honeymoons is www.tahiti-explorer.com - it is a travel agency site but has a forum you can browse. A lot of honeymooners use this site so you should be able to get some great information just reading the posts. | 1
Fiji will probably be less expensive than BoraBora. | 2
We had our honeymoon in Bora Bora in December last year and it was incredible. You first need to ask yourself a) How much you'd like to spend (it isn't cheap); and b) how active you'd like to be. We set out and achieved a not-so-active honeymoon, which essentially means lying in the sun and reading, snorkeling and the odd 'island' activity. It is the most incredibly beautiful and romantic place. The different colored waters of the lagoon are amazing and the people are warm and friendly. If you can speak a little French, this will help as outside the resorts, not much English is spoken. Purchasing food and drink inside the resort is incredibly expensive. For example, a 330ml bottle of water was around the $3.50AUD mark. When we visited the supermarket in Vaitape, we bought 8x1.5L bottles for $5.00AUD. Beer, snacks etc all have similar markup. So go shopping in the Vaitape once you arrive. Similarly, if you organize external activities independent of the resort, like the shark/ray swimming or a jet-ski tour etc, both of which I highly recommend, you will save at least another 20%. I've never been to Fiji, but I am dreaming of the day when we can return to Bora. | 3
Hi..its better you go to Bora Bora for your honeymoon because its one the favorite beach destinations according to the a consumer behaviour survey done by journeymart.com..cheers | 4
My fiancé and I are looking at Bora Bora for our honeymoon next year, from all my research it's a perfect setting for a honeymoon. The only thing I've not really seen much about is the social side of things. We like to have a few drinks on an evening and socialise with other couples and have a bit of banter. Does this happen here or is it more of a "go to bed by 10pm" place? Thanks | 5
