Plantation vs Blue lagoon

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi Guys,

I have been planning a trip to fiji in August and I have narrowed it down to 2 resorts - Plantation or Blue lagoon. I am looking for a beautiful location to snorkle, relax and do 1 or 2 tours. I am travelling with a 2 year old and am worried about the longer transfer time to Blue lagoon. Does it really take 5 hours to get there? Is it usually rough? Are there any quicker ways to get there? Is plantation Island to commercial? I am an experienced traveller and don't mind putting in more effort to get to a better place if it's worth the effort.

Thanks for your help

Kelly

The island where Blue Lagoon is is much more beautiful.
It can even take a bit longer than 5 hours to get to though.
Or take the plane! ;-)

Snorkeling off the shore at Plantation is not very good.
You do need to take the snorkel trip to the sandbar.
Plantation is fairly tidal.
Have not been to Blue lagoon, a 5 hr boat trip would deter me from going there having had the odd rough trip to the Mananuca's we now always only go where we can take the helicopter.
