Hi Fellow travellers
Im planning to go to PNG with my Mother in a couple of weeks. Is there any unrest that I should be aware beofre we depart.
We are planning to go to Lae, Goroka, Madang, Mt Hagen & Wewak.
This will be my first trip to PNG - so if there are any 'must sees' - I'd love to hear about them.
Many thanks
Matt

Other highlights include Highlands scenery, New Britain's volcanoes and New Ireland's islands and beaches. Reading a guidebook should enlighten you about these. But travel in PNG is more about meeting the people and experiencing the country as a whole, rather than seeing specific sights.
The only area prone to outbreaks of (localized) violance is the Southern Highlands - and unlikely choice for you. The areas you've selected should be OK, just don't roam the streets at night.
