PNG Health Partnerships

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi all,

For those who have been to Papua New Guinea you will no doubt be aware of the appalling health outcomes within the country. You would probably also be suprized to the level of ignorance within Australia and the wider world.

To that extent myself and a few medical colleagues in Australia have started a new organisation PNG Health Partnerships looking to help improve health outcomes within PNG through Partnership, Education, fostering Exchange and facilitating Equipment.

How many of you know that PNG has the worst health measures in the Pacific Region, or that it is currently facing dual epidemics of Tuberculosis (including MDR-TB) and HIV/AIDS, and maybe worst of all that one in twenty women will die in their lifetime of complications related to childbirth?

good work, the site looks great & looks like you're passionate about the people of PNG! We have volunteer doctors come in and out of Modilon Hospital here in Madang every now and again doing practical stints & training other doctors & nurses. Could you send some more our way?
