Proposal ideas in Fiji

Hi everyone,

I am travelling to Fiji in a couple of weeks with my girlfriend and I am planning to propose to her. We are staying at the Outrigger and I am thinking about a beach proposal. I am stuck for ideas since I havent been there before, I dont know if the beaches in the area are picturesque enough for a sunset proposal or whether or not I should take her on a day trip to one of the islands?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I am not opposed to travelling to Nadi or something for a day trip out to an island but I am struggling to find anything on the internet in that regards!

The outrigger doesn't have the best beach. Its reef all around the area and the beach is coarse coral. Sunsets can be alright.

The best beach nearby would have to be Natadola. It is world class. There are a couple big resorts on the south end, but up the north end it is pretty empty, especially around sunset as most visitors are day trippers. I've never proposed to anyone but I'm thinking being away from the crowds is ideal.

Most of the day trips from Nadi go out to one of the little islands which are set up for that purpose. They are nice and all but often cater more towards families with lots of activities and water sports. They are also pretty small, might be hard to get some time alone.

The nicer and more secluded islands would be tougher to get to for a day trip, if that is all you have time for.

What just popped into my head is helicopter picnics offered by Islandhopper Fiji - "A luxury romantic escape for couples wanting to experience a boutique luxury island while in Fiji." Its far from cheap, but it sounds pretty cool and you only propose once. (hopefully..)

I can suggest a day trip with South Sea Cruises(google them) to Mana Island. The trip out is great with all the small islands looking like the picture perfect South Pacific dream. On Mana if you walk from the South Beach to the north(around the point, not across the island)you find a number of smaller beaches with no one around - this would be a perfect spot for a proposal. Unfortunately it won't be at sunset as your return will be around 4pm but you might be able to find a secluded area on the upper deck on the way back to plan the next chapter of your lives together.
