Raratonga - Wedding present idea????

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hello!
My brother and sister-in-law to be are heading to Raratonga for their honeymoon.
We'd like to get them some kind of gift voucher/idea to use when they are there.
He is in to mad outdoor sports (kite surfing, climbing, cycling), she's up for active stuff too, but would most likely appreciate pampering etc too. Also nice food, fine wine, but backpacking also.
Can you suggest anything that we could treat them to for their honeymoon?
(Doesn't matter if we can actually get vouchers - we can always give them the cash with a 'to be spent on' note).
Thanks for any help!!
p.s. please ask me questions if you need more specific info!

A day trip to Aitutaki... if they don't already have one planned...

Check Air Raro for info on the day trip...

1

Upgrades for their hotel room (eg Garden Room to beach room)
Breakfast upgrades
Couples massages
Vouchers for a nice restaurant on Raro.

2

If they both like to hike, spring for two Cross-The-Island hikes.

But I agree with the above, a day trip to Aitutaki would be the best thing one can get for honeymooners. But make sure they aren't already going to Aiutaki for a few days, aor that they haven't already booked the popular day trip.

Kia Orana,

if they like out door activities maybe they would love to take their first breaths under water... we have a great place right in front of our Shop on the south west side of the island... (even if this is not the right activity, tell them to come for a snorkel here.... well worth it)..
but let me explain what we do so you can decide if this would be an idea :-)
If they are not certified divers we have a wonderful place here for beginners:
The protected Aroa Marine Reserve, located direct in front of our dive centre. This is the best spot on the island to go see fish while you do snorkelling. There we do a Lagoon Dive/Intro Dive. They will get a thorough introduction here in the dive centre how to use thier equipment, a bit about physics and we will teach then some hand signals (because we have to communicate under water).
Then we just walk over to the beach and enter the water. Discover the marine reserve from below within the safety of the reef, because it's just 2-3 meters deep. there they will have 45 to 50 minutes to relax, get used to thier gear and have fun... After that they have the possibility to do some skills so they are able to go forward and do a outer reef boat dive, but it's their decision (but for the boat they have to do the lagoon first). the boat dive will be limited to 12 meters together with a Padi Instructor and just for you to know we always have an extra person on the boat while you are under water (not standard on the island) - (if they want to go on the boat we do need to have them filling out a medical form with quite a bit of medical questionaires)
for the costs you are looking at p/p 175 NZ Dollar for the complete DSD (including the lagoon training dive and one boat dive outside the reef). if you only want them to do the lagoon it's 90 NZ Dollars p/p.

if you want you can have a look at Youtube, there we have a small video about the training and some fish :-) so you will get an idea what we do.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7nqiB3ln-c

and for sure we can arrance a givf voucher for you...

all the best from sabine
