Rarotonga? good place to hang?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

HI there!
I have the opportunity to hang out in rarotonga for 4 days as a stopover. wondering if it is worth it. i am looking for some relax, nice beach time, good people, not too touristy, a bit of night life, good food, cheap cheap cheap accomodation and food. maybe some nice outdoor activities too... i'm looking for a spot (backpacker/hostel) close to market/fun.i'm happy to travel a bit to get to a worthwhile place, but only have 4 days. any help will be appreciated.

Rarotonga Backpackers is up to threee locations now, the original a bit inland, a spot on the beach and a new location just off the main road in Avarua. In addition there are a number of budget lodgings on the island. Backpackers has a lively crowd, activities and restaurants near them at the beach location. Avarua location is in town and near most everything, but not near beach. Beer or beach, your choice.

For a more complet list check out the lodging section of www.ck/

Have a great stay!

I'd stop for a few days. If you can afford to rent a motor scooter I'd do that, since your time is a bit limited. It's a pretty tiny island, only 20 miles around, so you can get anywhere pretty easily on a motorbike, or the bus if it is running.

4 day stopover in Raro - you poor bugger.
I think that that is cruel.
cruel that the stopover isn't for longer - how dare they not make you stay there for at least 7 days.
