Recent accommodation reviews - Tongatapu?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hello everyone, My husband and I are off to Tonga in two weeks. We are only staying for a week so will spend all our time on the main island and maybe Eua. We have tried to research accommodation options on the internet but would appreciate any recent first hand experiences! We are not big resort people and enjoy being able to self cater. We are thinking about spending one or two nights on Eua at the Hideaway and the rest of the time at the Otukaka Beach Resort. Ideally, we would like clean accommodation (ensuite facilities would be nice) and be near/overlooking a sandy beach with decent snorkelling (I realise this is not possible on Eua though). Any replies or general tips about visiting Tonga in May gratefully received. Many thanks
Budget? Fafa Island will meet your needs, but it is expensive. The dateline will too, but it is not worth the money. Nerima Lodge is good value, but doesn't overlook beaches. nearby Atata island has a couple, but their reality doesn't match their reputation. further along from the Dateline you have Harbour View and the Waterfront lodge, both a little more expensive than they should be. There is one on the lagoon, but I am not familiar with it. | 1
