everyone thinks of fiji as a paradise and gets relaxed too much as i and many others did. don't be tricked by this peaceful place!
i was on my around the world trip, was in cape town and rio - nothing happened to me (at least nothing bad). and i was robed on my first night in fiji.
i was staying on bounty island, in bure (february). it's a small island and you don't expect such things... while everyone was at dinner (you don't have any options but this dinner at 7 pm) 4 bures were robed. i lost my camera, phone, money... even spirits, cigarettes, and candies... what is worse - they even didn't say sorry. police officer came next day and told me it was not the first robbery there. he said there were people from mainland coming by boat to rob. still i do think the stuff was somehow involved.
i was also on beachcomber and manager said they had had such robberies a few times as well.
there was an irish couple robed on bounty too (one of those 4 bures). i met them again when i was in nadi, leaving at the end of my fiji trip. they told me that they had spent their last island night on bounty again (they didn't want but had booked in advance). so, same robbery happened again there on that night!
so, just be prepared
