rugby in fiji

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

hello,

I'll soon be arriving Viti Levu soon and will be travelling mostly around the island (thanks to the kind contributors on this site I have realised I cannot afford to travel as far afield as I would have liked), so I would like to see my other love after travelling - rugby, but the fiji rugby website keeps on showing no fixtures so does anyone know if there is any club or national games going on in late July or throughout August, and where this will be?

Cheers,

Adam

Hi Adam, I dont think the games are updated on fiji rugby website as I've checked a few times over the past year and they have never had any games listed.. Rugby is played in Fiji all year round... When you arrive have a look at the local newspaper 'Fiji Times'... In the sport section there is a page that lists times & venues for local games (as well as training details if you're keen on watching some training) for the whole of Viti Levu... Not all games are listed though, I think they just list the main games... I only read the paper on Saturdays, so not sure if this is only in the Saturday paper for games played in the coming week or if its updated daily... Most local Fijians are up-to-date on rugby (Indo-Fijians not so much), so if you ask any local Fijian they should be able to give you details on local games in the area... I wouldn't imagine you would have trouble finding a game or 10 to watch :)
