Sailing??

Hi there lovely thorn tree-ians?
I have just returned from a fabulous trip and it has piqued my interest in a long (minimum of a month) sailing trip. I'm not overly picky about location. The world is my oyster. I would, however, love somewhere with beautiful beaches and heat! I am currently back home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Literally one of the coldest places on earth! Awesome!

I have minimal sailing experience, lessons for a few summers when i was in elementary/primary school, and an extended family vacation a few summers ago. I AM looking to learn. I love boats and want a trip where i learn the good and bad. I am absolutely NOT looking for a cruise or cruise-like vacation. I do not expect someone to wait on me hand and foot nor do i expect to not have to do my share of hard work.

So here is my dilemna. I have not been able to find anything remotely like this online. Does anyone know of a program where adults (university aged) could commit an extended period of time (months +) to spending on a sail boat and learning how to sail while seeing the world? I would love any input.
