security and guide

Hi, I'm going to PNG in may and I would like to know what the situation is right now in terms of security.

Do i need to book everything in advance (local guide and accomodation) or can I figure it out when in town?

I was thinking of traveling for a week and going to the Sepik river. Any other suggestions?

Why on Earth would you need to book everything in advance???
I never booked anything in advance and was perfectly fine.
If you only have a week, Port Moresby and the Sepik can easily fill it.
