Solo female travel to South pacific

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi - I will have a month to travel in June, most likely on my own. Any advice about where to go? I'm thinking about Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, but am open to suggestions. I'd like to be able to meet people, but I'm 41, so not looking for the party hostel experience, and I rarely stay at resorts, though that might be an option. I'd say my budget is medium - not bare bones, but no $500 a night places. Don't mind going to more than one place either - at this point, just looking for ideas.

Thanks!

I think 2 countries would be enough to fill a month - add more, and things might get too rushed. Of your three choices, Fiji and Tonga get my vote.
You will find it easy to meet people, both tourists and locals, in these countries.
They are also the cheapest ones in the region, so you will find it easy to find places to stay that match your budget.

Samoa and Tonga are both Polynesian countries, and relatively similar culturally. would be thinking of visiting one Polynesian and one Melanesian country (eg Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia or Papua New Guinea). Fiji has a foot in both camps and is the crossroads, where planes from most countries fly.
