Solo Female traveller in Fiji for the First time!

Hello, My name's Brianna, and I'm from Canada. I traded in my toque and snow boots for a little vitamin D in Fiji on my way over to Australia, and will be travelling alone in Fiji from feb 23rd to March 3rd. It's my first time in Fiji, and I'm looking to spend some time on the islands, soaking up the sunshine, snorkelling and hopefully finding a bit of culture/adventure on my way.

I thus far haven't booked any accommodation, and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on places to stay on a budget? I heard it's better to book whilst in the country? I'm a lone female traveller, any advice/suggestions for things to see/do/stay would be greatly appreciated.
