South Pacific Islands - trip planning

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Would appreciate some help from you fellow travellers.

I have a flight to Auckland and further on from Easter Islands.

  1. Can I fly and with which airline to Fiji, Samoa, Cook ?
  2. Which islands have flights directly to Easter islands?
  3. Any recommendation for good accomodation - a nice island or resort but not one of the big ones?
  4. Do I need to think about Visa's?

Thanks in advance for your help world travellers !

  1. Air new Zealand will get you to Fiji, Cook Is and Samoa. ( I am going to Cook Is and Samoa) However from Cook Is.) You will have to check on their routing. I am flying from Canada to the Cooks. From Cook Is I have to fly to Auckland then back to Samoa. http://www.airnewzealand.ca/travelinfo/routes/internationalroutes/international_routes_asia_australasia.htm

  2. I am not sure about Easter Is.

  3. Fiji has The Beachcomber Island resort .. it is nice http://www.beachcomberfiji.com/
    Cook Islands http://www.cook.islands-resorts.com/

  4. visas should not be need as long as you have a onward plane ticket and a valid passport but is best to check with the individual country.
    Fiji http://www.fijiairlines.com/fiji-visa-requirements.cfm

Hope this helps

1

You can only use LAN Chile to get to or from Easter Island.

Try the Hotel Tau'ra'a (sp?) on the edge of town, maybe ten rooms, nice hosts.

2

For airlines your choices are
1.Pacific Blue, Air New Zealand and Air pacific.
2.As above Lan Chile is the only option for easter Island.
4.Visas are on arrival for the pacific Islands but easter Island may be different.

Thanks so much ! This helps to get the trip organized. Greetings from Hong Kong.
