South Pacific Travel

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hey,

South Pacific is my destination for 6 weeks during the summer of 2013. I'm teaching in Fiji for 2 weeks before travelling to Samoa, Cook Islands (Raro & Aitutaki) before finishing off in French Polynesia!

Has anyone ever been to these places? I'm homestaying in Fiji and at weekends travelling to Yasawa islands. Samoa = relax! Cook islands I intend to rent scooters..kiteboard in Aitutaki and chill on the beaches. French Polynesia = chill out! I intend to do as much water sports/snorkeling as possible too in all these places! I really have no idea how much to budget per day. I'm going to stay in hostels and with regards to food I'm not that fussed either. I didn't want to keep my eye on money and really do want to enjoy every day as much as possible. Was thinking approx £80 per day! What are your thoughts?

ANY help/information would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Danny

Are you aware there aren't direct flights from French Polynesia to neither Fiji nor Samoa?

i went on the STA website (as i'm doing the teaching placement through them) and they have flights London-Fiji-Samoa-Cooks-Tahiti-London

they have flights London-Fiji-Samoa-Cooks-Tahiti-London

Did you verify if the leg from Samoa to the Cooks is non-stop?
I guess the option they are ofering will be backtracking through Auckland.
