| tessha_m14:20 UTC11 Jan 2007 | i know i should ring the airline, but its past there buisiness opening hours and im impatient...
In about 2002 i flew with my united frequent flyer miles (20,000) on Air NZ to tonga via new zealand and i was allowed to make 1 stop over in each direction. Has anyone done this recently? (to tonga or anothe SP island) I was thinking of doing it again some time soon but i'm not sure if you can still do the free stopovers (the plane stops in NZ regaudless, but not sur they still let you break the journey)
THANKS

The way it works here in Europe is that you buy a RT with NZ as destination, and get a free island stopover each way. Additional stopovers are possible for a pretty low extra payment.
But for details from wherever you are I guess you will really have to call the airline, or a knowledgeable agent there. If you are in AU, I can't see how this might work as NZ itself may be the only place you could possibly stop on the way to most islands - or maybe Tonga on the way to Samoa. That's because all islands have direct links from Auckland, I believe.
