Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hi,
Can anyone advise on accomodation in these French Polynesian islands... I'm going on a 10 day break here, with my mum (60+) from 21-30th April '09. This is out plan..
- Tahiti first and last night
- Moorea 3/4 nights
- Bora Bora 3/4 nights
We're looking for hotels that are clean, close to all amenities that are reasonably priced.
Can anyone recommend anywhere? Or even what location on each of the islands is best to stay?
Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks

Ia Orana,

You may find good rates at chains hotels like the intercontinental one who offers multi-islands prices.

Kind regards

My personal choice for location in Moorea is Cook's Bay, check out Club Bali Hai. Email them for rates on their Bayview rooms. If you are a beach lover then look for accomodations in the Petit Village area. There are links in the FAQ and on my site (see signature) where you can look at different accomodations.

On Bora Bora the best area to stay is on a motu but those places are very expensive. Otherwise you would want to be in the Matira Point area. Check out Le Maitai

Thanks for your help - the matira point was booked out unfortunately but it looked just perfect. We went for Le Meridien instead and are booking club bali hai on Moorea. last thing we have to do now is book Tahiti. Any suggestions there?
Also I sent air tahiti an email about booking an airpass and they replied that I had to fax my credit card details to book the flights. Obviously not comfortable doing that so I was just wondering is there any other way of booking flights online (in Ireland) or is there much availability/price difference if we booked the flights when we get there?
#Thanks again

I wouldn't worry about faxing your credit card information, just don't email it.

Buying your tickets over there will be cheaper. I wrote about the price differences here: http://tahitionabudget.blogspot.com/2007/02/air-tahiti-part-5.html

There are a number of flights to Bora Bora each day from Tahiti and frequent flights to Moorea from Tahiti (plus you can also take the ferry). Of course you don't have any leeway if the flights turn out to be full. Make sure you are not traveling on any local holidays. I would check whether regular tickets work out cheaper than getting an airpass since you are only visiting two islands.
