David Stanley's Tahiti Handbook is good, by Moon Publications. You might find it via Amazon, or directly via www.southpacific.org I think

1

Jan Prince's guide to Tahiti is pretty good, especially for accommodations - I believe she lives in the islands. Also look for one called " Hidden Tahiti " - just can't recall the author's name at the moment.

2

Ray Riegert wrote or edited Hidden Tahiti. his first was Hidden Hawaii. I think it is published by Ten-Speed Press. I know Ray, helped him get started in his island travels. Very good books, good sense of humor as well.

3

David Stanley just published (October, 2007) his latest guide, so I would get that. It's available on Amazon.

Stanley's books tend to be better for off-the-beaten-track, budget travel than LP these days, even if some of the details he offers may be out of date.
It's a pity that an update of his South Pacific Handbook is not coming soon...
