Hi All, We decided to extend our stay on Cook Island for two weeks. We got a package deal which seems resonable and most importantly effortless. We would like to fly over to Tahiti for a visit, seems that we have no choice ( which is not such a bad choice)but to stay there for a few days due to the flight schedule by the only airline flying between these islands. Could anybody recommend certain island/islands, also places to stay while on Tahiti . Thanx again,
The problem with suggesting an island is in knowing what you like. I would recommend Huahine as the cheapest place if you want to see more of traditional FP. We stayed at Rande's Shack ( a lovely 1 bedroom house ) about 15 minutes from Fare. The snorkeling off the property was great and a 5 - 10 minute walk along the shore brought you to a nice beach. We rented a car for a day and got a nice discount when we said where we were staying. If a more touristy area is wanted then maybe consider Moorea. It can be reached easily by ferry and there are are places to stay which have cooking facilities. We stayed at Linareva Residence. It has a kitchenette and is located on a nice beach with free use of kayaks(also bikes) but is is a bit isolated being on the side of the island away from much of the tourist infrastructure. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions. | 1

It will be a relatively expensive side trip from the Cooks, as that rt flight is not cheap. But if you do go, I'd just head right to Moorea for a few days, it has good beaches, a good range of accommodation, and good connections to and from Tahiti, so you won;t waste a lot of time traveling around between islands. I wouldn't any more time on Tahiti itself than necessary. | 3
I agree with Raro. It is an easy taxi or 'Le Truck' from Fa'aa Airport to the downtown ferry dock, then a quick (< 1 hr) ferry to Vaiare on Moorea. From there, you can take a taxi or bus to a wide variety of accommodations. I'd recommend checking out mid-range accomodations near Haapiti, on the northwest coast. There are some delightful small pensions and resorts, such as Fare Matotea, Les Tipaniers, Hotel Hibiscus, or Moorea Village. | 4
