Tent for Kokoda?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hello, I will be walking the kokoda track on the 3rd of January and was wondering whether I will need to bring a tent. We have hired our own guide and will be staying in "village accomodation." We are taking six days and it seems as if the logical camping locations are not all at villages. Also a tip for cheap hotels in Port Moresby and Goroka would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards
Hi Pilko - I walked the Kokoda Track with 'No Roads' late Oct this year and it is and excellent eco conscious company - 2 people on the trip came by themselves and day day 2 everyone was getting to know each other and enjoying the company. You will need a tent - the accomm. is sometimes with th camp dogs and they have slep on the mattresses. You can't always stay in a village either - you will be pushing it in 6 days - we took 8 andthat was hard enough (I trained well too). Any further questions from anyone about Kokoda Track, I'm happy to answer - lynettejgiddings@hotmail.com | 1
We stayed in the Hideaway Hotel is a budget hotel. (Queen Room upgrade is very nice). It is situated at 7 ways (I think the suburb is called) - not the greatest area, but the Hotel was OK. Gateway Hotel is 3-4 star and very neat. | 2
