Travel from Cairns or Northern Australia to PNG

Looking for some advise on how to get from Northern Oz, anywhere north of Brisbane to anywhere in PNG. And some suggestions of for roughly a weeks trip to PNG in the middle of July!

There are regular flights on Qantas and Air Niugini from Cairns tro Post Moresby.

are there any cheaper options aka by boat?

Sorry, no scheduled boats. In fact the waters of the Torres Strait between Cape York and PNG are among the most treacherous in the world.
